Detour Creative Festival, Hong Kong - Urban Futures Lab

In 2018, I initiated the Urban Futures Lab as part of Hong Kong’s Business of Design Week with the assistance of an Australian Government Colombo grant. The lab was conceived as a working studio space to host Swinburne’s Master of Design Study tour, run by Bridgette Engler, a participatory community design program, a public space where people could explore, express and create, and an exhibition space.

I also conceived and led Cut and Try, a public visual storytelling workshop program during the BoDW deTour Creative Festival. Hong Kong residents were taken through a series of rapid iterative process exercises and creative experiments to visualise their city (or future city) through eight senses of their choice (e.g. touch, taste, sound, smell, memory, dream or imagination). These experiments were used to create final imagery and narrative handmade zine.
